My definition of success has changed quite a bit even within the last year. Similarly to you Tyler, success to me is having family and friends who love me and treat me with respect but also having a job/career in which you enjoy. You spend so much time working, so I definitely feel to be successful you have to find a job/career in which you are challenged intellectually and enjoy doing!

Yes, I 100% agree with your perspective that to feel successful one should be in a career that intellectually challenges an individual. It's important to feel that way so one doesn't experience boredom, which could ultimately lead to complacency.

My idea of success revolves a lot around my family as well, ensuring they have everything they need to be successful, thanks for the cause for reflection!

Interesting that your definition of success includes ensuring your family has everything they need to be successful. That's great!

Thanks Tyler, asking this question definitely has allowed me to reflect this morning. When I look back on my idea of what success was for me in my 20's, 30's, 40's & now in my 50's it looks different. Many of those successes have been achieved or are no longer a piece that completes my puzzle. My values of who I am are defined within the idea of what success still means for me wether I am 23 or 53.... Family, Health, Love, Trust and Security the only difference is how those things are defined.

Advice to you....write down on paper the definition of success you have today, so you can look back and see those accomplishments and also how they change over time.

Thank you for sharing. I am happy you were able to do some reflection this morning and see how your definition has changed over time. It seems like you have kept the same values over time, but what they mean to you and how they contribute to your success have changed.

That is a great idea, I will write down my definition of success today and perform this same exercise on perhaps a yearly schedule. I would be curious to see how it changes over time.
